In celebration of National School Sports Week, Year 5 had a very sporty day! In the morning, we had a football session and in the afternoon we learnt some karate. A big thank you to Mr Appadoo for giving up his time to come in and work with us.
In History we have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons. We studied Anglo-Saxon jewellery and designed our own brooches. We then used clay to make our designs – we think they look great!
Outdoor Classroom Day
On Thursday 18th May, Year 5 took their learning outside. Over the course of the day, the children completed a range of activities including:
Finding and measuring angles in nature
Investigating the number of blades of grass in a 1m2 area
Using natural materials to make their names in Anglo-Saxons runes
We were very lucky with the weather (although the children were prepared for all weather types – wellies, waterproofs, sunhats and suncream were all brought into school!) and had an enjoyable day.
