We have had a great term, learning about Rainforests. This term, Year 2 have been diving into a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, all linked to our topic RAINFORESTS. They’ve been inspired by The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry, creating their own stories, writing detailed character descriptions, and producing informative texts. A fantastic mix of creativity and learning!
This term, Year 2 have been discovering the fascinating world of habitats. They’ve been developing their scientific skills by investigating and sorting, including grouping pictures into living, dead, or never been alive. Hands-on learning at its best!
Year 2 have also been exploring our school grounds, hunting for minibeasts and collecting data about their findings. They’ve been recording their results on block graphs, combining hands-on discovery with real scientific skills!

In geography the key question was: 'Why does it matter where our food comes from?'
The children had to recognise that food comes from plants and animals and describe what happens on a farm. They identified and described what happens on a dairy farm and suggested reasons why the weather in Devon makes it a good place for dairy farming. They also described how cheese is made from milk. They learned about UK top 10 favourite fruits, tasted and ranked them for themselves.
