NURSERY
Our nursery is bright, spacious, well resourced and full of fun and adventure. We focus on child centred learning and play.
We provide 15 or 30 hours provision, depending upon parent preference. It is run daily in 3 sessions:
08.30am - 11.30am - Morning Nursery taught by our fully qualified nursery teacher and Early Years Practitioners. This covers the full nursery early years curriculum and can be accessed as the universal 15 hours entitlement.
11.30am - 12.15pm - Lunch club - free to any parent accessing the full days provision that day. A packed lunch must be provided. (Beech Hyde is a nut free school.) Lunch club can be accessed if a child is only accessing the morning or afternoon, but this is at a cost of £4.50 per session.
12.15pm - 3.15pm - Afternoon nursery taught by our level 3 qualified Early Years Practitioners - active sessions of learning through play. This is free for those parents entitled to 30 hours provision (code needed), or can be paid for at £18 per afternoon (£6 per hour).
For parents paying for provision, half a terms notice is required before terminating the placement.
Early Bird Pre-School, located next to our nursery building, do a range of wrap around provision to enable parents to access a longer day for their child. They handle transfer between the adjacent sites. Please see their offer here.
Why choose a nursery school?
Our nursery curriculum feeds into the main school curriculum, which means that children entering reception having been to our nursery are more confident with the transition. Our nursery is staffed by a fully qualified primary/nursery teacher and Early Years Practitioners, and therefore, the quality of education is outstanding. Consequently, we find that children joining Reception classes from our nursery often make better progress than those who have not. Our nursery children are made to feel a full part of the school, going over to the main building for PE, assemblies and to join in other events.
"Our son has an end of August birthday, making him one of the youngest in his school year group. We worried about him perhaps being shy and maybe a little behind in his development compared to his peers and really wanted to make sure he was ready to start Reception in September. Sending him to Beech Hyde Nursery was the best decision we have ever made for his development. He started off shy and all we wanted was for him to make some friends and learn to write his name. Within a few months of the start of the year, he had made lots of friends and his development in phonics, writing, speech, understanding, and enjoyment of learning was huge. He loved going to nursery every day and sharing what he had learnt, whether it was names of 3D shapes or some French words he now knows. It has been a huge comfort to us as parents that he was so incredibly happy at nursery and loved learning. All the staff at the nursery are absolutely phenomenal and the environment that has been created in the nursery could not be better. We are so incredibly grateful" Parents of a nursery child
